Charina Carothers, LICSW

Charina has worked providing counseling services to children, youth, adults as well as those with cognitive and developmental disabilities over the last 9 years.  The primary theoretical approach used at Providential Solutions is Systems Theory (recognizing the reciprocity of all elements within a system that is always shifting in an attempt to achieve homeostasis or balance).

Charina uses an integrated framework derived from Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Solution Focused Theory, Family Development Theory, and the Strengths Perspective as an Advanced Generalist Practitioner. In utilizing this model, the entire family is taken into consideration while intervention planning and evaluating.

Social Justice and Racial Equity are also important issues for Charina. She is a Qualified Administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), certified with the National Coalition Building Institute, and a trainer with Greater Spokane Progress Trainers Cohort.  Charina volunteers on Boards and Committees that promote both racial equity and social justice within various communities.

Charina received a B.A. from Washington State University, earned a M.S.W. at Eastern Washington University, and is also pursuing a Doctoral degree in Social Work with a focus on education and leadership through Walla Walla University. Charina is licensed through ASWB as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
